1. What are the different options for me to help?

There are four primary ways to help the children of Amani:

Make a one-time donation, or a contribution in the name of a friend as a birthday or holiday gift. Because it is a small, grassroots volunteer organization, every donation to Friends of Amani makes a difference - your specific donation might provide a table for children to eat on, or send a child to school for a year, or pay for first-aid supplies. A little goes a long way in Tanzania, here is an example of how your donation could help,

$20 - Feeds one child for one month
$50 - Provides medical care for one child for one year
$150 - Pays complete primary school fees (tuition, fees, uniform, school lunch, etc.) for one child
$348 - Provides full care for one child for a year (school, clothing, food, medical care, and counseling)
Partner with Friends of Amani through making regular contributions. Amani's ability to provide quality, reliable support to the homeless children who turn to them for hope is dependent upon our financial stability. You can allow them to better plan for the expansion of programs and services by becoming a Helping Hand and partnering with Friends of Amani to give on a monthly basis.

Amani Children's Home has two volunteer programs, their Ambassador program for short term volunteers (1-2 weeks), and their long term volunteer program (6-18 months). Long term Amani volunteers must be 22 years or older and they give strong preference to volunteers who can spend 6 months or longer at Amani and have practical skills to offer.

2. How can I make a donation to Amani?

In the US or elsewhere: Go to http://www.peacehousefoundation.org/donate.html and click the donate button to make your contribution online. In the "Review Your Payment" part of the process, please click on "Use my donation in this way" and type "Amani." This ensures that 100% of your donation will go straight to Amani. 100% of donations made through Peace House Foundation go directly to Amani Children's Home, and donations are tax-deductible in the United States.

3. How are my contributions used?

If you have earmarked your donation for a specific need, we will use your gift in the way you have specified. If not, your donation is used to meet our most urgent need, such as food, medicine, school fees. Because Friends of Amani US is a small, grass-roots organization run by volunteers, there is very little "overhead" - nearly 100% of your donation goes directly to help the children.
